Despite Myriad Restrictions, Women Are Pushing for a Share of the Economy
Since a 2002 UN report shone a bright light on how the relative absence of women in business was crippling economic growth in the Arab world, much has been said, and even a little done, about the matter. Yes, many female business leaders come from prominent families, but many others started their own businesses. And as the oil boom keeps expanding the supply of money in much of the Arab world, women are poised to accelerate their gains.
