15% of FTSE 100 Directors are Now Women

In their January 2012 BoardWatch update, The Professional Boards Forum reports:
- 15% of FTSE 100 directors are now women, increased from 12.5% this time last year
- there are 10 all-male FTSE 100 boards, a sharp fall from 21 last year
- 27% of board appointments to the FTSE 100 since 1 March 2011 were women.
The FTSE 250 lags significantly behind with 9.2% women directors and 46% all-male boards. A quarter of FTSE 250 board appointments since 1 March 2011 were women.
Jane Scott, UK Director of The Professional Boards Forum, commenting on the BoardWatch statistics, said:
“Our analysis following Lord Davies’s report in February 2011 shows steady progress towards the target of 25% women on FTSE 100 boards by 2015. So far 15 FTSE 100 companies have reached this target. We congratulate the highly experienced and skilled women who were appointed to 98 FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 board seats in 2011.”
