MBAs Driven to Stay at Home
Higher Dropout Rate Than Among Lawyers or Doctors
Far higher percentages of female MBAs turn into stay-at-home Moms or otherwise quit than do female lawyers and doctors. Among 1,000 Harvard alumnae surveyed 15 years after graduation, those who subsequently got MBAs were five times more to have quit than MDs. It’s all tied to the family-friendlines of the working world, and MBAs work in the least conducive environment of all the sectors covered in a study of the women. But there are other factors as well, such as how invested, monetarily and in time, the women are in their fields, and who they are likely to have married and whether they married.
