A Record 13.6 Million Women Work in U.K.
Half of Them Work Part-Time vs. 1 in 6 Men
Female employment in Britain is at a record high, with an equal number of posts filled by women and men, at 13.6 million jobs each. But men are far more likely to work full time and have a 79 per cent employment rate, against 70 per cent for women. The discrepancy in hours worked is especially sharp among parents with dependent children, with 38 per cent of women working part time, while only 4 per cent of men do.
