- Singapore in particular has some advantages, according to The Business Times and based on interviews with 19 top female bankers in the city state:
1. National emphasis on meritocracy can offset other discrimination
2. Small size of Singapore allows greater flexibility for child care
3. Close-knit families increase care options
4. Domestic service is easily and widely available
- The authors, who wrote an assessment as they completed business school, conclude, “To maximise human capital from the female gender, banks can be more forthcoming about institutionalising flexi-work schemes, establish mentorship programmes, and be open to and celebrate different models of success in the workplace”
