Five companies, five women on the board

Five leading Indian IT outsourcing companies share one thing: they all have one woman on their boards of directors. Two of them have selected women for their knowledge of marketing and brands, one chose an expert on the Hong Kong and Chinese regulatory environment, one chose an expert on computer services and one chose an academic with knowledge of international finance and energy.

Jessie Paul

Expertise:“services marketing and brand internationalization.”

  • Responsible for “enhancing Wipro’s brand globally”
  • Before Wipro: Head of marketing function, iGATE Global Solutions and Global Brand Manager at Infosys Technologies.
  • Speaks on: brand internationalization.
  • Published: articles on marketing and branding in various leading publications, runs a blog on marketing at www.jessiepaul.com and is currently authoring a book, “Marketing in a Flat World” to be published by McGraw Hill in early 2009.
  • Education: MBA from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta and a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy in 1992.

  • Harvard appointments include: Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for International Affairs; Advisor, Energy Efficiency and Finance-related Climate Change Issues, Interdisciplinary Committee on Environment; and Special Advisor, Centre for International Development at the Kennedy School of Government.
