Comparing Men and Women Managers in US and India
Richard N. Ottaway and Deepti Bhatnagar, with the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, compared the differences among male and female managers in the US and India. At least one of their findings may surprise you:
- In both countries, the women proved to be harder working and more concerned about achievement than the men.
- The women also had higher standards and had experienced greater conflict than the men.
- American female managers were farther behind their male counterparts in income than Indian female managers even though there were no significant differences between the two sets of women in terms of education and position.
