- For the second consecutive year, Ernst & Young has been listed as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers.
- The 2009 award recognized the firm’s diversity initiatives in five employee groups: women; members of visual minorities; persons with disabilities; aboriginal people; and lesbian, gay bisexual and transgendered/transsexual peoples.
- Karen Wensley, Ernst & Young’s Canadian HR Director, said, “Building teams of people with varying perspectives, backgrounds and skills helps us provide the best approach for our clients . … “We’ve got to reject the kind of ‘groupthink’ that contributed to the economic trouble we’re facing today.”
- Maintaining a diversity effort encourages staff loyalty, Wensley added, as well as buttresses recruitment efforts.
