Surprises at the top of the list
- The Philippines is the No. 1 country in terms of women holding senior corporate management positions.
- While women made up less than a third of managers in the EU and less than a quarter worldwide, they hold 47% of the leading business posts in the Philippines.
- The Philippine data came from a survey of 7,200 private businesses by the audit, tax and business advisory firm Punongbayan & Araullo, a member firm of Grant Thornton.
New Zealand women's above-average representation in business
- 27% of senior corporate managers in New Zealand are women, well above the share for women in Australia, the US and the UK.
- The rate rose in 2008 from the 24% in 2007. .
- 70% of New Zealand companies had one to three women in senior management.
