- A survey of 1,004 younger Indian women in eight cities found that less than a quarter considered career more important than family. More than two-thirds picked family over career.
- Oddly, less than 10% of respondents chose the third answer offered them: that they should not have to choose between family and career.
- Kolkata was the city with the most career-focused women, while Chennai was the most conservative on female employment.
- While a majority of the respondents said women do not suffer discrimination in pay and promotion, 43% did report bias, and majorities did so in two cities: Mumbai and Kolkata. A majority of women reported that sexual harassment was common at work in Pune, Jaipur and Chennai, with the fewest reporting such abuse in Mumbai and Kolkata.
