NZ Program to Show Economic Gains of Gender Diversity
Women On Boards is public-private effort to lift the 9% share of women on top New Zealand boards
- New Zealand is launching Women On Boards, a program run by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Business NZ and the Institute of Directors aimed at promoting the economic advantages of gender diversity in boardrooms.
- Among the 100 top listed companies, women hold only 9% of board seats. 45 women hold 54 directorships out of a total of 624 positions.
- “There is strong evidence out there that companies can gain a competitive edge through being more gender diverse in their boardrooms,” said Women’s Affairs Minister Pansy Wong, adding, “This partnership will see women and men standing shoulder to shoulder in the boardroom to lift company performance for the benefit of the country.”
