Recognizing the Best Women, and the Need for More
2009 Asian Women of Achievement Awards event is told, "We need more women in business"
- The Prince of Wales, Cherie Blair, and others at the 2009 Asian Women of Achievement Awards in London heard loud and clear about the need for women to hold more and higher profile posts in business.
- “We need more women in business and politics,” the Liberal Democrats’ leader Nick Clegg told the annual gathering. “If it hadn’t been for testosterone-fuelled greed in the banking sector, for example, the economy might not be in such a mess.”
- The evening drew the Duchess of Cornwall as well as Prince Charles, who was given the Global Empowerment award by the event’s founder, Pinky Lilani, for his social and humanitarian work.
- The Business Woman of the Year award went to Veera Johnson, CEO of Procserve.
- Entrepreneur of the Year went to Christina Vaughan, founder of Image Source, the picture agency.
- Professional of the Year was Dr Sunita Verma, the founder of Sparkle Dental Boutique.
