The Greener Gender?
West Coast branch of Women's Network for a Sustainable Future gets started
- The Women’s Network for a Sustainable Future in Silicon Valley is making cleaner tech happen.
- The national group, which had its first West Coast Summit at the Intel headquarters in May 2009, works for three things: “women, business and sustainability”.
- Leading executives from Intel, Hewlett-Packard and Silicon Valley Bank shared company sustainability strategies at the summit, including how IT can reduce carbon emissions, both in its own operations and, more effectively, by helping other industries.
- So are women the greener gender? The issue was not addressed directly, but after all this is the Women’s Network for a Sustainable Future. More to the point, one participant noted the higher profitability of companies with more women in senior management — the same could well be the case with responsibility performance, she said.
